VAULT: Alexander McQueen S / S 09

OK. I think terça-feira needs a vault of amazing collections from the past like this one. Alexander McQueen is such a genius (my favourite designer) and I will worship him forever. You might know him for the Armadillos-the huge platform shoes Lady Gaga wore in the Bad Romance video-and for his tongue-in-cheek attitude. Also, I respect him for embroidering in the words "I am a cunt" on the lining of a jacket that belonged to the Prince of Wales.

Moving on, his S / S 09 collection, titled "Natural Dis-tinction Un-natural Selection" featured an array of digital colorful prints, corsets and bejeweled shoes. And animals.

These are the prints he used. There are others, but I didn't wanted to include them here, because these were the prettiest. You can watch his show at his official site, here.

Also, he showed himself to the public in a peculiar way...in a bunny costume.

I told you that there were animals in the show.

Armani Privé Spring / Summer 2010 Couture

I usually dislike Armani (his ads are so low class, ew at Cristiano Ronaldo) but wow. Their couture show amazed me. Armani took us to a trip to the moon, with tailored looks, irridescent fabrics, soft colours and gorgeous dresses.

The looks were very tailored, but with a different touch. The colors are a very nice choice, and those moon pins are so gorgeous, I want one. Also, the bags could be nicer, it's a couture show after all.

These dresses are amazing. The fabric and the colors suit them so well, and those details...I'm impressed. These outfits really belong to the space odyssey / lunar theme. The necklaces are gorgeous too.

These were three of the final dresses stepping into the runway. The middle one is amazing! I would really like to see them on the red carpet, as these dresses just scream red carpet to me. I wonder who would look good in them...

Armani pulled a pretty show this season, the clothes were gorgeous. BUT I would like if he had invested in creative bags or shoes. Also, he needs to ditch the spray tan.

Christian Dior Spring / Summer 2010 Couture

John Galliano's theme for the Haute Couture show was the Equestrian theme, with tailored jackets, veiled top hats, whips, ballgowns and long gloves. It was also inspired in the first Christian Dior collection, New Look, of 1947. The catwalk was very romantic, but still contained some flashy details, as expected from Galliano.

The jackets are definitely the highlight of the collection. Fitted, with peplums and in striking colours, these jackets are the best piece of the collection. My favourites were these three, the red one Karlie Kloss is wearing is beautiful. The gloves and the hats add an aura of classiness and elegance. The shoes are nice too.

Lace, veiled hats and pastel colors make these dresses astonishing. I love the construction of the bottom parts of the dress, especially in the second one. I like the white version of the shoes better than the black version. The hats are amazing!

The colour palette for these dresses is very interesting. These looks scream "old glamour", from the makeup to the shoes. The gloves are nice. The big, chunky jewellery isn't very impressive.

These are the fantastic ballgowns that closed the show, with gorgeous bodices, satin fabrics and glitter apliques. There were more colours to the dresses, red, pastel blue, champagne...a colour palette full of contrast and variety. The gloves are nice, they certainly add a classy touch to the looks.

In the end, Galliano made his appearance, dressed up to the occasion. His jacket is pretty...
Overall, the collection is very classical, with gorgeous details and lush colours, which was a great mix with the equestrian style, that normally is very monocordic. This season's show was very elegant, and it really had the vibe of couture. Buuuuut I would really like to see some other makeup from Dior, because the red lips are starting to lose their brilliance. They were good in the A / W couture show but now they are starting to get boring.
